Although the industry evolved steadily there have been some key developments that brought about significant changes. Some of the most important milestones have been: the steam engine, in-line production, robotics-computing and cyberphysical systems.

It can be said that Industry 4.0 is a complete digitalization of value chains through the integration of "intelligence" in all technological processes (data processing, intelligent software, sound and data analysis), making them more efficient. This trend is based on the concept of Internet of Things (IoT), where the intelligent management of objects and agents is key. The union of these concepts has given rise to the term Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT), which is also comes together with Industry 4.0, the interconnection of objects, machines, agents, cyberphysical systems and people.

To achieve the efficiency of all these processes, advanced analytics (in all its aspects) and Data Science are used as a framework that allows to make the most of the data generated and implicated in industrial processes, with the aim of optimizing the different activities and processes within a prescriptive analytical framework.

Students of this master's degree will be qualified in a new and highly demanded profile, which has emerged as a result of the emergence of the Industry 4.0 concept and the associated technological paradigm. Thus, the students will be able to know the technologies and computational models that are currently used in industry and robotics (Additive manufacturing, Robotics, Intelligent industry, Cyberphysical systems, IoT, Analytics and data science, etc.).
